AMSA will be closed from 5 pm AEDT Tuesday 24 December 2024, re-opening on Thursday 2 January 2025. Our search and rescue will continue to operate every day (24/7) during this time. See which services are affected.

Our first integrated strategy for mutually beneficial and respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

In support of Reflect 2022-2024, we:

  • launched targeted education programs for First Nations seafarers
  • participated in National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week
  • implemented cultural awareness training for our staff
  • engaged a Badu Island artist to create the artwork now displayed on our Cairns-based Challenger aircraft
  • procured $2 million of goods and services through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses
  • provided 240 hours of service to a First Nations through the Jawun APS Secondment Program
  • advanced maritime safety in the Torres Strait through the Torres Strait Marine Safety Program by working with stakeholders on educational safety measures.

Back to our reconciliation journey.
