AMSA will be closed from 5 pm AEDT Tuesday 24 December 2024, re-opening on Thursday 2 January 2025. Our search and rescue will continue to operate every day (24/7) during this time. See which services are affected.

Communication with stakeholders is an essential part of developing the CRIS, with adherence to AMSA’s Statement of Regulatory Approach PDF1.59 MB.

AMSA published a consultative CRIS on its website and invited specific industry groups and participants to comment on its cost recovery arrangements, other groups, owners and operators, and the public were also able to respond. The consultation was over a three-week period, commencing on 1 June 2022 and closing on 19 June 2022.
Industry groups invited to provide feedback included:

  • National Safety Committee
  • Shipping Consultative Forum

No responses were received. This was expected given the Independent Review of Australia’s Domestic Commercial Vessel Safety will be informed by a significant and comprehensive stakeholder engagement process during 2022, including public discussion papers supported by efforts to encourage public submissions including industry consultation.

A report detailing all feedback received from stakeholders on CRIS consultations over the previous three financial years, including our responses, is published on our website here. This feedback will inform AMSA responses to Independent Review and potential funding options that may be eventually considered by the Australian Government.
