Current edition

Edition 1.1

Commenced 1 October 2024

About

NSCV C2 provides the design, construction, installation and maintenance standards for:

  • watertight and weathertight integrity
  • rapid drainage of water from decks
  • reserve buoyancy, and
  • prevention of overloading.
Announcement

NSCV C2 mandatory from 1 September 2025

From 1 September 2025, the NSCV Part C2 will become mandatory for all new domestic commercial vessels that have a requirement to comply with Marine Order 503. The date has been extended to provide industry additional time to transition to the new standard.

Until 1 September 2025, new vessel constructions that are required to comply with Marine Order 503 can abide by either:

  •  NSCV Section C2, or
  • the Uniform Shipping Laws (USL) Code sections 5C, 5D, and 7.

Vessel owners must comply with one standard in full, not a mix of both.
