From Saturday 23 December 2023 changes to declared areas of sheltered waters in some areas of Tasmania will come into effect.
The changes include an increase in areas defined as smooth waters, changes to the operational limits within Storm Bay to the east of Bruny Island, and the removal of several historic port limits in other locations that clearly extended out into open waters.
The changes have been formalised in Tasmania’s Marine and Safety (Limits of Operational Areas) By-laws 2023, as well as related standards, exemptions and operational maps in the following:
