This week, Minister Catherine King and Australia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Stephen Smith, welcomed the opportunity to discuss Australia’s environmental, safety and seafarer welfare interests with International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Secretary General Kitack Lim, with Secretary General Lim commending Australia’s strong leadership role as an active member of the IMO’s governing Council.
AMSA leads Australia’s interests at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on behalf of the Australian Government, influencing international standards and obligations and contributing outcomes for our maritime environment and the broader international maritime community.
Australia has been an elected member of the IMO Council for more than 50 years.
