Notice of Registration Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997 (TTMRA) for Seafarers (form 887)


Overview

This form should be completed by a New Zealand person who wishes to perform an equivalent seafarer occupation in Australia.

(Note: this form was previously titled Trans-Tasman notice of registration).

Eligibility criteria

This form should be completed by a person who wishes to perform an equivalent occupation in Australia, who holds a:

  • Certificate of Competency
  • Any other authorisation required by or under a law of New Zealand for the carrying out of a seafarer occupation.

AMSA will request verification of the New Zealand qualification.

Once we have acknowledged receiving your application and payment you are able to commence working immediately. You do not need to wait for us to issue you with a letter of registration or certificate of recognition. 

How to complete this form

The applicant will need to provide copies of supporting documentation as listed in the checklist.

Submitting the form

Send your application to us by email to SCSApplications@amsa.gov.au along with copies of all supporting documents. When we receive your email we will let you know how to pay the fee for your application via the AMSA online portal.
