About the Australian Maritime Safety Authority

AMSA is Australia’s national maritime safety regulator with responsibility for the maritime safety of international shipping and domestic commercial vessels, protection of the marine environment from ship-sourced pollution, and search and rescue in our region.

AMSA leads Australia’s interests at the IMO on behalf of the Australian Government to influence international standards and obligations and contribute outcomes for our maritime environment and the broader international maritime community.

Our mission is supported by a team of international delegates, leaders and maritime specialists in Australia and overseas who collaborate, champion and contribute to IMO initiatives and reform.
