We have diverse teams operating all around Australia.

Where we operate

Whilst our head office is in Canberra we operate across Australia and have 19 offices, including in:

Organisational structure

Our organisational structure is made up of the AMSA Board, the Executive team, and 4 operational and service areas:

Operations

Operations is responsible for ensuring that the domestic and international shipping community in Australia is safely operating in accordance with the regulatory frameworks.

Their day-to-day activities include things like:  

Response

Response provides a national search and rescue service to the maritime and aviation sectors, as well as working to prevent and combat ship-sourced pollution in the marine environment.  

This division also manages the infrastructure to support safety of navigation in Australian waters, and aviation and surface assets in support of incident response.

Policy and regulation

Policy and regulation maintains the regulatory framework and standards for maritime safety, navigation and marine environment protection for all vessels in Australian waters.
