First aid certificates

Learn your options for fulfilling the mandatory requirement to hold a first aid certificate or equivalent when applying for a domestic certificate of competency.

To be eligible for a domestic certificate of competency (CoC), you must hold a qualification that meets the requirements of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, or another certificate we consider equivalent. 

All certificates must be current and we won’t accept expired first aid certificates.

Equivalent first aid qualifications

The following certificates are considered equivalent to the HLTAID011 unit of competency:

If using these equivalent qualifications, they must be valid, and you must also hold a current CoC from an AMSA eligible country:

If your first aid certificate expires within 90 days of submitting your certificate of competency application, we may ask for a new certificate.
