NSCV C4 provides the design, construction and installation standards for: 

  • passive fire protection measures 
  • active fire protection measures 

This includes, but is not limited to: 

  • ventilation systems 
  • fire detection and alarm 
  • fire extinguishers and extinguishing systems 
  • fire safety preparedness documentation 

This section applies to all domestic commercial vessels except: 

  • fast craft 
  • leisure craft 
  • novel vessels 
  • special purpose vessels
