Technical Advisory Panel

Technical advisory panels help interpret and apply technical standards.

The role of a technical advisory panel (TAP) is to advise and assist with technical interpretations for the National Standard for Commercial Vessels.

A panel is made up of technical experts from industry, government, academic institutions and the community.

The size of the panel is determined by the nature and complexity of the issue, but in all cases will have at least three members.

Members are chosen by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) based on their qualifications, expertise or experience in their field. Jurisdictions are not always represented.
